Using the iOS and Apple Watch app

The CalmMate app needs no account. There is no sign-up, no login and no password. Download it, open it, and everything works immediately — including with no internet connection at all.

The sign-in screen at calmmate.org belongs to the separate web version of CalmMate, which syncs a journal across browsers. The App Store app is a different, fully offline product and never asks you to sign in.

To get relief fastest: open the app and tap the large SOS button on the Home screen. A paced breathing session starts within a couple of seconds.

❓

Common questions

Do I need an account or a subscription?
No. The iOS app is free, has no account, and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

Does it work offline?
Yes, completely. Every feature — breathing, grounding, meditation sounds, the journal — runs on your device. You can use it in Airplane Mode.

Where is my journal stored?
Only on your iPhone or Apple Watch. It is never uploaded to us and we cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes this data permanently, so export anything you want to keep first.

How do I use it on Apple Watch?
Installing the iPhone app installs the Watch app automatically. On the watch, tap Panic — Breathe for a haptic-led session that works with your wrist down.

The sounds stopped when I locked my phone.
They shouldn’t — audio is designed to continue during a session with the screen off. If it stops, check that Silent Mode is off and that CalmMate is not restricted in Settings → Screen Time.

How do I turn off reminders?
Settings → Reminders inside the app, or iOS Settings → Notifications → CalmMate.

How do I set up trusted contacts?
Settings → Trusted Contacts. Add a name and number and a call/text button appears during breathing sessions. Contacts are stored on your device only.
