This section governs the CalmMate app distributed on the Apple App Store, and it takes precedence over every other section of this policy for that app. The rest of this policy describes the separate web version at calmmate.org, which offers optional accounts and therefore behaves differently.
The CalmMate iOS and watchOS app does not collect any data at all. Specifically:

Not a medical device. CalmMate offers self-help breathing and grounding exercises. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and is not a substitute for professional mental-health care.
Children. The iOS app is not directed at children under 13 and is not enrolled in the Kids Category. Because it collects nothing, no personal information from any user of any age ever reaches us.

Short version: CalmMate collects only what is needed to make the app work and show you your personal progress. We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not share your data with any third party except the services listed below that are necessary to run the app. You can delete everything at any time.
CalmMate is a free panic attack and anxiety support application available at calmmate.org and on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. CalmMate is operated by an individual developer based in the United States. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at support@calmmate.org.
The table below lists every piece of data CalmMate collects, where it is stored, and why it is needed.

CalmMate uses the following services. Each has its own privacy policy linked below.
No other third-party services are used. No data brokers. No advertising networks. No social media tracking pixels.
CalmMate includes a Kids mode designed for use under parental supervision. CalmMate does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
The Kids mode breathing tools can be used without creating an account (the triage screen allows crisis tools without sign-in). If a parent creates an account and uses Kids mode on behalf of their child, the data collected is the parent's account data, not the child's.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@calmmate.org and we will delete it promptly.

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Contact support@calmmate.org to exercise these rights.
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Firebase Firestore uses security rules that prevent any user from reading another user's journal entries, session data, or preferences. Only you can read your own data (except for the anonymous focus room presence count and the aggregate session counter, which are visible to all signed-in users as described above).
Passwords are never stored by CalmMate — they are handled entirely by Firebase Authentication using industry-standard hashing. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we never see your password.
CalmMate is a wellness support tool, not a medical device and not a substitute for professional mental health care. The breathing techniques, grounding exercises, and journaling prompts in CalmMate are evidence-informed but are not a diagnosis, treatment, or prescription for any medical condition.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or a crisis helpline. In the United States, you can call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) at any time.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes significantly affect how we handle your personal data, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) or by displaying a notice in the app. Continued use of CalmMate after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
To delete your account, request your data, or ask any privacy question — email us. We respond within 5 business days.
